Come and define the blue economy scenarios for sea areas of Estonia and Finland
During the spring and summer of 2017 Plan4Blue project organised an expert survey and a workshop. The results were combined to develop draft futures images for blue economy sectors in Gulf of Finland and Archipelago Sea areas: energy, maritime, tourism, culture and services for leisure activities as well as blue bioeconomy and subsea resources. Mapping exercise on sea-use for the year 2050 resulted as initial hot spot areas for blue economy.
ALTERNATIVE FUTURES IN 2050 WILL BE FURTHER DISCUSSED AND REFINED IN THE NEXT WORKSHOP IN JANUARY 23-24 2018 IN TALLINN.
How do different alternative futures impact blue economy sectors and how sustainability could be reached? What would be the concrete outcomes of four alternative future scenarios?
Working titles of the scenarios:
- Sustainability above all!
- Growth unlimited
- Balancing between human interest and use of natural resources
- Virtual reality
Analysis of these scenarios will lead to the next phase of the project that will focus on identification of cross-border spatial planning issues and developing planning approaches. Project activities will inform the official maritime spatial planning processes in Estonia and Finland.
