The maritime industry needs professionals from various fields to maintain and design high-quality products and services. Employees in the maritime industry have usually studied in a vocational institute, at a university or at a university of applied sciences.
Aalto University: Master Program in Maritime Engineering
The Nordic Master in Maritime Engineering is based on the expertise of the participating universities within naval architecture, offshore engineering and maritime engineering.
Aalto University’s study track in the programme focuses on passenger ships. This study track gives a comprehensive overview of the different aspects related to the design, analysis and optimisation of passenger ships. Studies cover both basic knowledge as well as the application of risk-assessment methods in ship design. Studies also address the conflicting interests of different stakeholders and students are challenged to create solutions that satisfy stakeholders' demands.
The aim of the studies is to work on a single ship project throughout the specialisation semester and work on different parts of this ship within different courses.
Graduates of the passenger ship study track are ideal recruits for shipyard design departments, design offices, classification societies, etc.
