  • Lessons Learned shared at the Nordic Action for a Transformation to Low-Carbon Shipping, arranged by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
  • The ZVT White Paper is finished, printed and also available at the website (ZVTwp).
  • Workplan is compiled to update the Timeline for the Joint Industry Projects, some of which are delayed but still continue towards the set goals. Many lessons learned to be shared, so an important task to launch during early 2017.

ZVT stakeholders believe that increased transport by sea contributes to increased economic growth & welfare, while reducing negative environmental & climate impacts, number of accidents & energy consumptions. With that in mind the Method Zero Vison Tool was developed in 2011.

Today representatives from over 160 organisations work in 20 different Joint Industry / University Projects and report progress and what's needed to continue. This means that industry, academy, agencies & administrations meet to share experiences & establish common workable sustainable solutions. Several of the JIPs have received nominations and prizes for their pioneering work, which are all very well deserved.

Together we have now reached Step 4 in the change process; "to enable the tipping point". While the need for co-funding and grants are still important tools to continue the pioneering development, we also need to include followers interested in going green. This is done by different types of incentives for both CAPEX and OPEX. Based on the JIPs and JUPs reporting, three important Calls for Action 2017 are defined;

  • establish an industry financing product, that includes the value chain (still working together to reach joint goals), and make sure the pricing is partly based on the societal benefits,
  • continue to support more shipping via concepts like early movers and ECA Bonus, and,
  • continued sharing of lessons learned to be able to connect the regulatory development, financial market knowledge and the industry experiences. This to continue to find common workable sustainable solutions.

To reach the vision zero, this process of change was started, and is still on-going..

With this we like to wish you all happy holidays and meet you back in 2017 filled with new energy and strive towards our joint vision zero.
