NIT DESIGN AND BUILD PASSENGER AND CREW AREAS FOR NEW COSTA SHIPS

NIT has signed new turnkey contracts with Meyer Turku for the new Costa cruise ships. NIT
design and construct the crew stairs for the first and second vessel of the series as a
steel-to-steel turnkey, each covering ten staircases and up to 6000 m 2 . In addition NIT also
design and construct 6000 m 2 per ship of visual turnkey deliveries including Sun Deck, Family
Restaurant and Kids Club.

“Our team has confirmed deals for two ships now and we are excited to participate in these
great projects which have welcomed Costa Group, Europe’s leading cruise company, as a
return customer to Finland”, says Mr. Jari Suominen, CEO of NIT.
Costa belongs to the Carnival Corporation, which is the largest cruise operator in the world.
The size of new Costa ships will be 180,000 GT and they will accommodate up to 6,600
passengers. The ships will be powered by LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and they will be
designed under the new green cruising concept which ambition is to build the most efficient and
sustainable ships ever for the Carnival Corporation.

According to Jari Suominen, the engineering and design phase for the first ship has begun
already. The delivery of ship is scheduled in 2019. The second ship will sail away from Turku on
2021.

data and brainpower to build this success story together with the shipyard.”
