Sea Europe appoints Mario Dogliani as its new technical director

Today, SEA Europe – the Ships’ and Maritime Equipment Association – which represents the interests of European shipyards and European maritime equipment manufacturers has appointed Italian Mario Dogliani as its new Technical Director.Mr. Dogliani will work on technical and environmental matters, both internationally (particularly in the IMO, as representative of the Community of European Shipyards’ Associations, CESA) and towards the European Institutions.

“Mr Dogliani brings more than 30 years of professional experience and technical expertise to our association”, said Christophe Tytgat, SEA Europe’s Secretary General. “I am very happy to welcome Mario to SEA Europe. The European Maritime Technology industry will greatly benefit from Mario’s longstanding expertise”.

Prior to joining SEA Europe, Mario Dogliani spent more than 30 years with Italian Classification Society RINA. He worked in various positions and on various matters including representing the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport in different IMO’s working groups and in several TEN-T projects, and has been an active member of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum.

Next to technical and environmental matters, Mr Dogliani has also been actively involved in maritime R&D related policies and projects, including the Waterborne EU Technology Platform since its establishment.

“I very much look forward to this new challenge in my career”, said Mr. Dogliani. “This career switch offers me a great opportunity to get acquainted with another side of the maritime industry. I truly believe that the European maritime technology sector, with its shipyards and maritime equipment manufacturers, has still a crucial economic and strategic role for Europe, the European economy and the European cluster. And I am eager to be able to contribute there to”.
