Breakfast coffee with a professor: Additive Manufacturing and Surface Engineering
Introduction to webinar series
The goal of this series of seminars is to generate active dialogue between the local businesses and the University of Turku’s programme in Mechanical and Materials Engineering. You’re welcome to hear about the favourite subjects of new professors and discuss the topics that are of interest to your company.
The events will be held on Fridays from 8.30–9.30 a.m. Each seminar starts with a 20–30-minute keynote address on the subject. We hope that the companies will actively take part in the discussion!

Ashish Ganvir: Additive Manufacturing and Surface Engineering
Ashish’s expertise lies in material science and process engineering where he tries to answer ´how various processing conditions influence the material microstructure, properties and hence the performance´. Before joining University of Turku, Ashish worked at GKN Aerospace Sweden AB as a process engineer, additive manufacturing (AM). Ashish has a PhD in production technology, from University West, Sweden. Ashish has ambition to do research in the field of AM or 3D printing and surface engineering using laser, electron and plasma-based technologies. AM of metals, ceramics and their composites are of specific interest. Similarly, development of functional surfaces by depositing ceramic, metallic and composite coatings for various applications such as bio, energy, tribology, corrosion, semiconductor etc. are also of focus.
