Introduction to webinar series

The goal of this series of seminars is to generate active dialogue between the local businesses and the University of Turku’s programme in Mechanical and Materials Engineering. You’re welcome to hear about the favourite subjects of new professors and discuss the topics that are of interest to your company.

The events will be held on Fridays from 8.30–9.30 a.m. Each seminar starts with a 20–30-minute keynote address on the subject. We hope that the companies will actively take part in the discussion!

Wallace Moreira Bessa: Intelligent control of mechatronic systems

Wallace Moreira Bessa is Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Turku. The main directions of his current research are related to the intelligent control of mechatronic systems and autonomous robots. Before taking up his position this year at the University of Turku, he was Assistant Professor at the Federal Center for Technological Education (Brazil) and Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil). In 2014, he was awarded the prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers, which allowed him to be a visiting professor at the Hamburg University of Technology (Germany) from August 2015 to July 2017. He has more than 100 scientific publications on topics such as intelligent control, non-linear systems, robotics and mechatronics.
