Business Finland: Cooperation opportunities between Chile and Finland in the defence industry

Business Finland, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries (AFDA) will organize a webinar on May 25, 2021 led by Ms. Eija Rotinen, Ambassador of Finland to Chile.
In 2020, the Chilean Navy has completed “The National Continuous Naval Construction Plan to year 2030”, which is yet to be published, however, there are several major investments already announced, where Finnish know-how and experience within the defence industry could bring added value.
This online visit is an opportunity to provide offerings to the Chilean Navy tenders. The Chilean navy has approved a budget for four amphibious transport vessels (1 vessel cargo transportation, 2 vessels for men transportation and 1 hospital vessel), with an investment plan of 600 Mn USD. The tender will come out in the second half of 2021 and construction is to start in the beginning of 2022. Moreover, a tender for the need for 25 speedboats for coastal surveillance will be established in 2022 and satellite surveillance systems with an investment of 300 Mn UDS. There are also opportunities to explore within navy R&D collaboration.
